Central Library Senior Photos | Lilly

I was so excited to meet Lilly, a senior at Liberty High School, for her senior photos. She has always dreamed of becoming a lawyer and is heading to college to begin her pre-law track, which made her session feel even more personal and meaningful.

For the first part of her senior session, Lilly chose a completely unique location—the Central Library, specifically the Room of Antiquities. The Central Library is located in downtown Portland. This space houses hundreds of historic books, many of them centuries old. The librarian kindly gave us a short window to photograph in the room, and it was worth it. The textures, tones, and character of the space made her photos stand out in such a different way. We also used the exterior of the building, which added a clean, classic look to her gallery.

After the library, we headed to the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, one of my favorite locations year-round. The natural setting gave us a completely different feel—open space, soft light, and a relaxed pace. Lilly was so fun to photograph. She has the best laugh and such an easygoing personality, which made the whole session feel effortless.

THE BENEFITS OF CHOOSING 2-3 LOCATIONS

One of the best ways to make your senior session feel unique is by choosing 2–3 locations. This gives you variety in your final gallery without needing a full-day session. Lilly’s combination of an indoor, editorial space and an outdoor nature location worked perfectly.

I always recommend mixing locations that reflect different sides of your personality. That could look like something structured and classic (like a library or downtown setting) paired with something more natural and relaxed (like a park, field, or water location). It keeps your photos interesting and gives you a well-rounded gallery.

I help guide this process so everything flows smoothly. We plan locations that are close enough to maximize time, choose outfits that work with each setting, and build a session that feels cohesive but still varied. The goal is a gallery that feels like you, with enough variety for announcements, prints, and everything in between.

Senior Photography sessions are available in Hillsboro, Sherwood and throughout the Portland Metro Area and across Oregon. Senior Sessions can be booked anytime of year. Photo Sessions are typically booked in late spring through early fall.
