Whispering Falls Campground, Detroit Lake Oregon

The end of July we booked our campsite at the Whispering Falls Campground. The campsite was large and spread out and overlooked the river. It was a little bit of a steep hill down to the river bank, but easy for older kids. Whispering Falls is a few minutes away from Detroit Lake. 2015 had little rain and there was quite a drought. Detroit Lake was at it lowest level in a really long time. There were so many exposed stumps and trees. It really was crazy to see the lake so low.

This camping trip Josh’s mom joined us along with her friend Blair. We explored, fished and ate. We also rented a boat at Detroit Lake for 4 hours for tubing and that was the highlight of this camping trip. The kids had so much fun and didn’t mind the cold water at all.
