Summer Family Session at the Tualatin River Wildlife Refuge
A Sherwood summer family session at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is always a favorite for a reason. This location is beautiful year-round, but in early summer the grasses are lush and green, creating the perfect natural backdrop for relaxed, timeless photos. I met the S family here in early June and we quickly realized we live in the same Sherwood neighborhood—such a small world. They included Grandma in a few of the photos, which made the session even more meaningful. We spent the evening walking the trails while the boys ran, explored, and played, capturing those real, in-between moments that make a Sherwood summer family session feel so special.

WHY EARLY SUMMER PHOTOS AT THE TUALATIN RIVER WILDLIFE REFUGE
Early summer at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge feels wide open and full of life. The grasses are tall and vibrant green, creating soft, natural texture in every direction without feeling overgrown or busy. It’s the kind of setting that lets your family stand out while still feeling connected to the landscape.
This location is especially great for kids. There’s plenty of space to move, explore, and just be themselves without needing to stay perfectly still. The flat, well-maintained paths make it easy to walk between spots, which keeps things simple for parents too. It all comes together into a session that feels relaxed, playful, and easy from start to finish.
