Portland Rose Garden Family Session

This Portland rose garden family session is the perfect example of why this location is one of the most loved in the area. The International Rose Test Garden truly comes alive in the early summer months. Peak blooms typically appear from late May through July. During this time, thousands of roses fill the garden with incredible color. It’s an ideal setting for vibrant, joyful family photos.

The garden offers so much variety, from perfectly lined pathways to open spaces where little ones can explore. It’s an easy, relaxed location for families, especially with young kids. The soft summer light paired with the blooms creates a timeless look. I always love photographing a rose garden family session here. It’s consistently beautiful and never feels the same twice.

I’ve had the joy of photographing the Newman family for several years now, starting with their maternity session as they were expecting Max. Since then, I’ve documented so many meaningful milestones for them. This includes newborn and family sessions, along with another maternity session as their family grew. Watching their story unfold over time has been so special.

Finally getting to meet Lily during this Portland rose garden family session was such a highlight. She is the sweetest little girl. Seeing her personality begin to shine alongside her family was such a gift. It’s sessions like these that remind me how meaningful it is to continue documenting families through each season of life.
