Why i love oregon coast
family sessions
The Oregon Coast is my happy place. I could spend hours walking on the beach and just watching the waves. For us that live in Portland, the beach is so accessible and easy to get to quickly, so why not choose the Oregon Coast for your family session! Kids have so much more freedom to run around and play and you can just see the joy on their faces. Your family photo session becomes a more fun experience for all family members and the focus is on making memories instead of stand and smile at the camera.
Do you already have a trip booked along the Oregon Coast? A family session during your stay is the perfect way to document your vacation and capture those memories. Planning a family reunion or meet up, even better! Document this gathering in the best possible way with an extended family session.
What time of year is the best for photos at the Coast?
ANYTIME!!
While most families using visit the Oregon Coast in the summer and early fall months, the Oregon Coast is beautiful all year round. In the peak of winter, it might be a little chilly or it might be all sunny. Spring brings more chances of rain but those showers are typically quick to pass. Summer is the warmest time of year at the Oregon Coast. The summer also brings higher chances of fog, especially in the evenings. But I love foggy days at the beach!!
When you are deciding on dates for your Oregon Coast family session, I always try to recommend looking at the tide charts. Low tide is magical along the Coast, with tidepools exposed and amazing rock formations. In the summer in particular, the tides are extremely low and that makes it perfect for exploring the beach with your family before or after your photo session.
my favorite beaches for family photos
CANNON BEACH: Haystack Rock is always a favorite, especially with families from out of state. Chapman Beach has grassy hills and is less busy than other locations. Hug Point is my absolute favorite, especially at lowtide when the waterfalls and caves are accessible.
LINCOLN CITY/NEWPORT: In the areas of these two bigger cities, I really love Devil's Punchbowl. At lowtide you can walk into the bowl and there are great tidepools. Glenden Beach is a much quieter beach, which is really nice in the summer. Nye Beach is a great beach in Newport and also a cute little town to walk around and get a bite to eat.
OTHERS: Pacific City is beautiful, with Cape Kiwanda, but very busy on summer weekends. There are several other great spots, some more hidden then others, so just let me know where you will be staying!
EXTENDED FAMILY SESSIONS
My summer and fall calendar is always filled with so many extended family sessions. So many families choose to meet at the Oregon Coast, for reunions, celebrating a big birthday or anniversary or just to spend time together. I always look forward to these family sessions because there is so much energy and joy amongst everyone.
Extended family sessions include photos of the entire group and each separate family group. All members of the family receive the link to the gallery and have access to download all the images.
Extended family sessions end with some fun! This could be getting everyone's toes in the ocean, playing a game, changing into special sweatshirts or just being silly together.
