Our Memorial Day Adventure to Glacier National Park

Two weeks before Memorial Day my mom and I were talking about taking a quick family trip. We only had Friday-Monday available and with 12 people going, it needed to be close and inexpensive to get there. We decided on Glacier National Park, somewhere none of us had been before and somewhere we could get to quickly.

My dad has worked at Amtrak for over 30 years. He suggested we take the train there and it was the best decision. We left Friday morning and headed up to Seattle so we could take the kids to Pike Place Market. We left Seattle Friday at 4pm and got to Glacier National Park at 9am Saturday. We had 2 full days to explore. We left Sunday at 9pm and got home Monday before lunch. It was perfect. No one was tired from driving. We had bedrooms also so everyone had a place to sleep comfortably.

Our first stop was in Seattle for about 3 hours. We had lunch, walked through Pike Place Market, and watched them throw fresh fish.

We had it to ourselves and the sun was just beginning to set. It was so much fun. I grew up traveling on the train with my parents. It was wonderful sharing the same experience with my kids.
