Family Session at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Oregon
I was so excited for this family session at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, one of the most beautiful spring photo locations in Oregon. Located just outside of Portland in Woodburn, the farm is home to the largest tulip festival in Oregon, with endless rows of colorful tulips stretching across the fields. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival typically takes place from mid-March through April, when the flowers are in full bloom and the farm becomes a vibrant celebration of spring.
One of the things I love most about photographing sessions here is the reservation system, which helps keep the experience relaxed and enjoyable for families exploring the fields. With so much space and so many varieties of tulips, it’s easy to wander, take in the views, and let kids simply be themselves.
The G family is one of my absolute favorites to photograph each year. I’ve been documenting their story since their very first maternity session, and it has been such a joy watching their family grow. Rosa and Brandon are the sweetest couple, and their boys are full of personality and always make me laugh.
During their session, the boys had the best time exploring the tulip fields—smelling the flowers, running between the rows, and discovering all the different colors of tulips. Spring sessions at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm are always so beautiful, and this one was no exception. Another sweet G family session in the books!

The tulip fields at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm are one of the most beautiful places in Oregon for spring photos. The vibrant rows of colorful tulips create a stunning backdrop for family sessions. Because the fields are only open for a short time each year, it’s best to plan your session during peak bloom in early April when the flowers are at their most vibrant.
Sessions are typically scheduled close to sunset or just after sunrise, when the light is soft and flattering, creating that warm glow across the fields. It’s also one of the quieter times of day, which makes the experience more relaxed for families with little ones.
