A Summer Day at the Beach in March | Family Day at the Coast

The winter in Portland was almost nonexistent. Spring arrived very early in February. The trees are blooming and the Oregon weather really has been amazing. Last weekend the forecast called for temperatures to be close to 70 degrees! With that forecast, I knew a trip to the beach was a must! #sundayfunday

While I would prefer to explore a new area of the Oregon Coast, my kids always beg to go to their favorite beach, Cape Kiwanda. They love climbing the sand dunes and jumping off the edges. After about a 2 hour drive from Portland, we arrived at our beach. The best part of the beach here in Pacific City is that you can drive on the sand. My kids think this is so cool. The beach is also very long so even on a busy weekend there is plenty of room to spread out.

After a very yummy picnic lunch the kids were ready to climb the dunes and play in the sand. It was a perfect day at the Coast. There was hardly any wind and it was really warm. The sunshine felt amazing!

The view from the top of the sand dunes at Cape Kiwanda is breaktaking. You can see the Pacific Ocean on both sides and it goes on forever. The water was so blue. Sometimes it can be really windy at the top, but not today. The kids jumped in the sand and of course took turns burying each other. They could spend the entire day playing in the sand dunes.

They all decided it was definitely warm for a little fun in the ocean. I thought the water was freezing, but that didn’t stop them from getting a little wet.

It was a perfect family day at the beach and it really felt like summer. I am really looking forward to many trips to the Coast the next few months and especially in the summer.

If your family will be vacationing or enjoying a day at the beach, a family photography session would be a perfect way to capture some fantastic family photos. Contact me for more information about Maternity, Children’s and Family Photography Sessions at the Oregon Coast.
