Barn Kestrel Wedding | Alisa & Blake

Alisa and Blake’s gorgeous Portland summer wedding at Barn Kestrel was the perfect blend of style and intention. As an Oregon wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to venues that offer both beauty and versatility, and Barn Kestrel truly stands out with its open space, stunning architecture, and thoughtfully designed layout.

I first explored the property during Alisa and Blake’s fall engagement session, and from that moment, I knew their wedding day would be something special. Seeing their vision come to life in the summer light made it even more incredible.

Alisa and Blake are such a wonderful couple, and their attention to detail really set their day apart. They brought a level of style and creativity that felt elevated yet completely personal. Every element reflected who they are, making their wedding not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful.

It was an honor to document their day and capture it all as an Oregon wedding photographer. I’m so happy for these two and the life they’re building together.

ALISA GETTING READY

Alisa and her bridesmaids got ready in the main house at Barn Kestrel. It’s an 1887 Queen Anne Victorian house. Everyone was so excited to finally see Alisa put her wedding dress on. She chose a dress by BHLDN designer Eddy K. The lace detail and long train was so pretty. Alisa looked so beautiful! All the bridesmaids chose their own dress and I loved the color palate.

BLAKE GETTING READY

The guys got ready in another smaller house. It was the perfect space for the guys. They watched football, ate sandwiches and had a great time while waiting for the ladies to get ready. Blake got all his groomsmen gifts and spent some time writing a special note to Alisa.

FIRST LOOK

For Alisa & Blake’s first look, we choose a spot near the garden under some beautiful trees. The smile on Blake’s as he waited for the tap on his shoulder was so sweet. These moments are always my favorite because they are full of emotion and joy. Alisa and Blake exchanged heartfelt notes and gifts with one another. Alisa’s face when she opened her wedding band was priceless. Such a cute moment!

WEDDING PARTY + FAMILY PHOTOS

After Alisa & Blake’s first look, we did wedding party photos and family photos. There were so many funny moments during this time and several very funny photos of Blake and his groomsmen. The ladies all looked so beautiful. Both side of the family were so excited for this day and for Alisa & Blake. Here a few highlights.

THE CEREMONY UNDER THE TREE

The ceremony took place under a huge 100+ year old oak tree. It provided just enough shade and was the perfect backdrop. Alisa & Blake read vows that they wrote. The vows were so sweet and I think there were several people with tears in their eyes.

WEDDING DETAILS

This wedding was so beautiful. The flowers by Forest & Field were stunning. The greenery filled the barn and was so natural. Alisa’s bouquet had so many wonderful textures, flowers and greenery. I loved how Alisa & Blake set up different areas at the venue with personal touches, photos from the past and interactive elements. It really was so well planned.

THE RECEPTION

The Reception began with cocktail hour. Guests mingled and Alisa and Blake said hello to friends and family. Dinner was served in the grass field. The tables looked wonderful and the food was delicious. Friends and family toasted the couple with funny memories and well wishes. There was dancing in the barn and desserts. It was a night for celebration!

COUPLES PHOTOS AT SUNSET

My favorite part of weddings is spending some time with just the newlyweds and creating beautiful portraits. We did some portraits during the cocktail hour and then snuck out before the sun went down for sunset photos. Alisa & Blake are so cuddly and in love with each other. I am so happy for them!
