Oregon Engagement Session in the Columbia River Gorge | M + J

For Melanie & Justin’s engagement session they wanted to do something outdoors and with amazing views. They were driving to Oregon from Idaho and we wanted to meet somewhere halfway. The Columbia River Gorge was the perfect place to meet. There are so many beautiful places in the Gorge that are perfect for an Oregon Engagement Session. Locations range from little to no hiking required, to more adventurous with several miles required. Melanie and Justin wanted really love being outdoors and in nature. We choose to meet at Government Cove near Cascade Locks.

Government Cove is a little hidden area along the river in the Gorge. I love this location because there are steep stone walls, cliff views overlooking the river and beautiful trees and green spaces. Engagement sessions are my favorite because it is the first time I can get couples in front of the camera. We get to chat and learn more about each other. Couples get to see how I work and all those nerves and uncomfortable feelings melt away. By the end of the session, we have laughed so much that it feels more like a friendship then business transaction.

Melanie & Justin were nervous for their engagement session. They kept saying they didn’t like to have their photos taken and that they felt awkward. It only took a little time for them to relax and to really just have fun. Government Cove was the perfect location for this sweet couple!

For a March day in Oregon, I would say we some amazing weather and very little wind, which is pretty rare for the Columbia River Gorge. This Oregon engagement session was so much fun with Melanie & Justin! When it came time to photographer their wedding at McMenamins Edgefield, we knew each other so well and even had some inside jokes.
