Why you should get married
in the columbia river gorge
01
The Columbia River Gorge is absolutely breathtaking. There are incredible locations on the Oregon and Washington sides of the Columbia River. Waterfalls are numerous and the hiking options are endless. There are thick forests with really cool bridges to cross, amazing views to hike up to and did I mention waterfalls!
The beauty of the Columbia River Gorge is ideal for weddings- no matter the size or desired amount of privacy. There truly is a perfect location for every couple to have the most amazing wedding experience.
Within a 30-60 minute drive from Portland, you can be on the standing next to a waterfall getting soaked in the mist or starting your hike to amazing views with your loved one. Let me show you why the Columbia River Gorge is perfect for your elopement or intimate wedding!
what is the weather like in the columbia river gorge?
02
The weather in the Columbia River Gorge is pretty similar to Portland, Oregon, seasonal without too many extremes. However, in general, plan for some wind.
WINTER: Snow and ice storms are common in the winter, maybe 3-4 a year. The waterfalls freeze and trails get slippery, but the frozen falls are magical.
SPRING: Tends to be rainy with plenty of beautiful sunshine days. The waterfalls are full from winter snow melt and everything is coming back to life. Trails are quieter this time of year.
SUMMER: If you want the highest chance of nice weather, then July and August are ideal. Trails are busy and parking can be an issue in popular locations. If you avoid the weekends, then you should be fine.
FALL: The leaves are changing and the weather is cooling down. The colors are vibrant and are along every trail and waterfall. Crowds are lower and this is really a beautiful time of year to adventure in the Gorge.
Favorite location in the gorge
latourell falls
03
In the Columbia River Gorge there are many waterfalls to see, some are hidden and require hiking, others are near parking lots and easily accessible. My favorite waterfall in the Gorge is Latourell Falls. This waterfall is an easy walk from the parking lot. Once you come down the hill you are standing in front of this incredible waterfall, the mist hitting your face and the beauty of the landscape surrounds you. I love this waterfall for Elopements, Weddings and Engagements because you can get so close to the waterfall. In the summer, you can easily reach out and touch the falls. Latourell Falls is the most beautiful location!

favorite location in the gorge
multnomah falls
04
Multnomah Falls is the most visited sight in Oregon. The waterfall is so tall and the landscape around the area is beautiful. There are several hikes in the area as well. While I wouldn't recommend a midday, summer ceremony at Multnomah Falls, it is perfect early in the morning or quieter times during the year. With some planning, you can get the waterfall all to yourself! For those that don't want to deal with the crowds, this can be an optional stop during your multiple location elopement day.
