Chiang Mai: Part Four, Temples & a Waterfall

Our 4th day in Chiang Mai was spent exploring more temples. The first part of the day we had a driver take us to 3 Wat’s and a stop at the Mae Se Waterfall. Each place we visited was so beautiful and unique. There are so many temples in the area, you could never see them on one trip.

Wat Phra That Hariphunchai was our first stop. Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site for people born in the year of the Rooster. There were rooster sculptures in several places. We were able to sign our names on the gold cloth to help bless the restoration project in progress, which was really special.

After spending 2 hours at that beautiful temple, we stopped at Mae Se Waterfall. It was such a hot and humid day. It was nice to walk along the river in the shade up to the waterfall.

The waterfall was a quick stop, but it was nice to get out in nature for some time. After this stop we headed back to our hotel to rest for a bit and shower. Josh and I decided to head back out and visited two more temples before the end of the day. Wat Buppharam temple was a mix of old and new “ish”. There were so many interesting statues and figures.

Our final stop of the day was Wat Mahawan. We just happened to come across this temple while walking. There are so many temples in Chiang Mai. The white temple was beautiful.
